Slain
My Tiefling Rogue died tonight. A party member was using a Psionic ability to attack an enemy, he rolled a 1, and accidentally hit me instead. For triple damage. I haven’t had the best luck with increasing my Hit Points each time I level, because I am teh suck with my die rolls. But even […]
Wii: All Part of the Plan
Chris Kohler writes about why “Wii” may be a good strategic choice for the name of Nintendo’s next generation console (emphasis mine):
It isn’t the name of a video game system. And that’s where its power lies.
…
the type of name is really what matters. It’s distinctive, it’s simple, it’s iconic. It’s half-word, half-picture. And damn if […]
Day of the Tengu
The 24-hour head start event for Guild Wars: Factions took place yesterday. For everyone who had a pre-order key, there were quests commemorating the cessation of the Tengu Wars. This celebration takes place on the Day of the Tengu. To get a Tengu Mask, a unique item customised for one’s character, you had to collect […]
Curse You, GameStop
Right. Pissed off now. The Guild Wars: Factions Collector’s Edition has been delayed. This has been known for about a week. GameStop and EB Games have been instructed to tell their customers that the CE will not be available on the 28th of April. Looking on various message boards and forums has confirmed this information. […]
FFVII: Why It Sucks
From Jeremy Parish, comes this snippet from his Final Fantasy VII retrospective:
Sadly, the follow-the-leader nature of Japanese RPG devs meant that they trod lemming-like into wretchedness, following FFVII’s lead into tedium and excess. Gamers, they discovered, would suffer through any amount of boring combat as long as there were flashy cinematic special effects (which had […]
Question to Ebert
Erik over at The Ideal World blogs about Roger Ebert’s visit to the University of Colorado, where Ebert was a speaker on the panel “Are Video Games Art?”:
First I set up my question by establishing a bit of a middle ground. I don’t believe the game itself is art, I believe video games simply contain […]
Wait Your Turn
I’m glad I don’t have to deal with this and this and this on a regular basis in Guild Wars.
When I experienced my first login queue in WOW, it was a shock. “What do you mean I’m 47th in line to play? I have to wait 10 minutes? Is this what I’m paying for?” A […]
You Are Dead
In my first match in the Spring Tournament of Bloggers, I suffered defeat the hands of Josh from Cathode Tan. The arena was picked at random, but I forgot which one it was. I played as Kanden and Josh chose Sylux. We played in Battle Mode, which means you need to get more kills than […]
Cracked Resolve
I got my DS Lite in yesterday.
Pictures.
I am weak.
EDIT: Oh yes. And I was able to return the other (non-Lite) DS for a full refund. It was part of a bundle package, and I never received one of the three parts of said bundle. Yay!

Silent Hill the Movie
I expected entertainment, and entertainment I received. I saw it twice.
Apparently, the original script did not include any women. It was returned with the note “There are no men!” Sean Bean’s character (Chris Da Silva) was added, and then the script was later approved.
