I have a new PlayStation 3. After discussing my options regarding my inoperative PS3 with a Sony Customer Service Rep, I decided that it would be better to purchase a new PS3 than to spend $100+—which is a third of a cost of a new one—to repair my old 80 GB model. Repairing the old one wouldn’t guarantee that it would continue to work, and if they sent me a refurbished PS3, I’d be in the same position.
I’m now the owner of a 500 GB PlayStation 3 (Assassin’s Creed III bundle). I’ve lost all my old save game data, which is a huge shame, but I’ll get over it. Eventually. I’ll just fondly remember my save game data from Mirror’s Edge, Dragon Age (90+ hours of play time…), and so on for now.
This purchase puts a crimp in my Vita purchase plans. I’d originally planned to buy the Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation bundle with the white PS Vita. I’m not all that interested in playing Assassin’s Creed III, but I really was looking forward to Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation. I’m not sure when I will buy a Vita now.
Having a working PS3 does mean that I’ll be able to play Sleeping Dogs, and I was doing just that this week. I’m enjoying this game. I’m kind of surprised that it didn’t do better.
Meanwhile, I’m working with Sony to authorize my new PS3 so that I can re-download all of my SingStar songs to that unit.
