Wot I’ve Been Up To

The Beatles: Rock Band

Work has been hella busy lately, and there’s a bunch of other stuff consuming up my free time, including spending more time playing games than writing about them, which is a nice change. This is the game-related stuff I’ve been up to:

  • Still playing Assassin’s Creed II, which I’m enjoying quite a lot.
  • Planned and sort of hosted an UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves online multiplayer gaming session with a bunch of my friends, to check out the new Siege Expansion Pack. Google Wave is useful for something, after all!
  • Still playing SingStar.
  • Decided to finally finish the story mode of The Beatles: Rock Band, after enjoying a great barbecue with colleagues, at which there was much Rock Band-ing.
  • Trying to get my drumming skillz back in Rock Band. Before that fateful barbecue, I had not played Rock Band for quite a while.
  • Reading the first Dragon Age novel, The Stolen Throne by David Gaider, which I received for my birthday a couple months ago.

Ooo! How is the Dragon Age novel? I thought about picking it up, but never got around to it.

I also should play some Assassin’s Creed II. I bought it right when it came out but still haven’t broken into it. At least I finally beat Uncharted 2!

I can totally sympathize with work being crazy right now. I’ve got a major milestone coming up in the very near future, and just now is when new users start pouring into my hobby website bringing my poor server to its knees. And of course, it when you’re busiest with no time to spare that artistic inspiration will strike. I swear its a corollary to Murphy’s Law.

Rambling aside, I’m glad you’re finding time to relax with some games. From the sounds of it, work won’t be letting up for you for some time… Good news for us fans though, I suppose. ;)

The Dragon Age novel is best enjoyed by avid fans of Dragon Age. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who didn’t really like the game, or felt that the game was so-so. I don’t think it is particularly awesome fantasy, but I enjoyed it regardless. I thought the latter part of the novel was stronger than the start, particularly the interactions amongst the principal characters.

    Yay for beating Uncharted 2!

Assassin’s Creed II is really great. I like riding the horse, which isn’t surprising considering that the horse ridnig in Ocarina of Time was probably my favourite bit of that game. If they could make an Assassin’s Creed combat horse riding game where I could trample over villagers and slash at them with my sword, it would be awesome (it’d never sell, but I can dream).

Glad to hear that work’s keeping you busy. Busy is better than bored, yeah? :-)

Glad to hear the horses stuck around for II, they were one of my favorite parts of the first one and I’m not ashamed to admit it. ;) I have a little too much attention for detail when it comes to the animation on animals, and most games (some movies too) drive me crazy for not really ‘getting’ quadrapel movement… but Assassin’s Creed feels like they mocaped that horse or something. It’s just amazing.

And yeah busy is always better than bored.
