OGHC: One Year On
Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony have recently given Old Grandma Hardcore gifts a plenty:
From Microsoft: One more year of Xbox Live Gold
From Nintendo: A DS Lite and some games
From Sony: A PSP and a lot of games
These offerings demonstrate that companies recognise Barbara St. Hilaire as a unique and influential voice in the gaming public (at […]

Spot On
Eurogamer’s review of Nintendogs: Dalmation and Friends:
But if, like us, you don’t have a vast amount of time on your hands to spend walking around a rather dull virtual landscape every day, and if you like a bit more from your games in terms of incentives and variation, chances are you won’t be playing Dalmatian […]
Quiet, but Still Playing
It has been quiet here. I haven’t got anything particularly interesting to write about or to comment upon. There is stuff going on in the gaming news that deserves comment, to be sure, but I don’t feel I have anything new to add to those conversations. I am still playing games, naturally.
PandoraFM
Pandora + Last.fm = PandoraFM.
Last.fm’s streaming radio is generally sub-par. I enjoy hearing new music, but prefer to listen to artists that play similar styles of music. Pandora is great for this. If you want to listen to music in the same genre, but not necessarily the same musical style, Last.fm is the way to […]
Non-Gaming Women a Problem for Women Gamers?
A woman in the Girl Gamers LiveJournal Community states that, in her experience, non-gaming women make it difficult for her to gain acceptance as a woman who plays videogames:
But today was apparently the first time any of my co-workers heard about my hobby. You’d have thought I said, “oh, yes, I roast babies and feed […]

What is Wrong With Comic Book Movies?
gatmog briefly reviews a bunch of comic book movies, and ends with a critique:
What continues to astound me is how the medium has been treated in its transfer to film. While it’s nice to see them being taken seriously as money making ventures, there comes a point where the film’s ties to the original format […]
First Look at Absolute Sandman
I’ve been keeping an eye out for news on this ever since Neil Gaiman started talking about it on his blog a while ago. I’m a huge Sandman fan and a Neil Gaiman fan. The Beat has a look at comparisions between an original page from an original Sandman comic, and the re-coloured page for […]
