My Funny Bone Isn’t Broken, Your Humour Is

Slashdot have their April Fool’s Day “joke” up on the site. Can we all take a guess as to what sort of societal stereotypes they are reinforcing here? Not intelligent, not subtle, not funny:

Think Geek
‘s April Fool’s thing is nice, but also falls flat on the cleverness scale:

The fake BBC news story of last year is my favourite:

In general, however, I hate April Fool’s Day. People rarely get it right, and most of the jokes perpetrated are ridiculous and lack any kind of ingenuity at all.

    I loved that zombie article!

I hate April Fools Day, too.

Only the Bob Ross painting video game joke showed any creativity and regret that it wasn’t true.

That’s a bit harsh Brin, nobody expects most April fools to actually be any good, that’s half of the fun of it! I don’t think that we’ll ever see a mass fooling nowadays (certainly not to the level of the classic BBC spaghetti bushes anyway).

And I think that ponies are funny……

Pink and green are contenders for my least favourite colours, has to be said.

Troy: The Bob Ross game is for real. It’s not a joke.

NPR, imo, does the best April Fool’s gags in the world. “ZIP To Go!” was brilliant. I missed whatever they did this year though.

Most of the gamesphere shoot for the absurd, which is entertaining all the way to kinda.

Yeah, most AFD jokes lack those qualities. The fun part is guessing how many idiots will fall for it regardless.

I’m another April Fools grouch, though I did like Cute Overload’s response to Slashdot.

I must say that my favorite April Fools’ jokes are when Google makes outlandish announcements (like Gmail, ZOMG! 1 GB of storage!) and then they turn out to be real. Awesome. That’s what I would do if I were a huge multi-billion dollar company.
